Healthy Life Style

Ok small changes make for big results so firstly we are going to look at how you feel about your physical image. If you dont have any worries then choose a different page!!

How do you feel about your appearance?

How much exercise do you take?

What foods are you putting inside your body?

Today, right now we are going to change just one thing..

Food

We all know that to maintain a healthy body we should drink eight glasses of water and eat five portions of fruit and veg. We also know to cut down on fats and oils, be sensible with dairy food and avoid smoking and alcohol and caffine.

Very few of us have the willpower of a saint and so inevitably we 'forget' most of the above when devouring our indian take away on a friday ( or monday or tuesday...) night. Im not going to suggest you put into practise all of the above immediately but lets tackle one thing at a time.

Here are a few suggestions to change just one thing in our diets to point us in the right direction for a perfectly toned athletic machine of a body! Pick just one - simple! Also if you have any suggestions email me and Ill add them to the page.

1, Water intake: Make up a bottle of 2litre juice in the morning and sip regularly all day.

2, Caffeine: Swap some of your teas and coffees for red bush tea (my personal fav!) it has no caffeine , tastes just like tea and is packed full of antioxidents - plus it counts towards your water intake. If this doesnt float your boat try herbal teas, fruit juices, smoothies etc.

3, Limit your portion size - Im not talking lettuce leaf here but do you really need that extra chicken kiev / burger ? Could you manage without the side of fries?

4, Sauces are evil! (Very tasty but evil non the less) Full of colourants, fat, sugars and creams they are not doing us much good. Cut down ( not out)

5, Use spray oils instead of cooking oils.

6, Swap your white bread for wholemeal or your frosties for porridge

7, Fruit is tasty! Ok so the appeal of an apple against a chocolate bar doesn't rate very high but... cut up lots of lovely exotic fruits at the beginning of the week and store in a tub in the fridge that you can periodically dive into. Smother your friuts with a low fat yogurt and its an instant tasty snack.

8, Smoking ... well Im still working on that! Try patches for parts of the day, busy your hands or limit yourself to one an hour or as a treat / break after achieving something ( making coffee should not count!)
