Hopi Ear Candling
History
This is an ancient and natural therapy which was first used to purify and cleanse on a spiritual basis. In the modern day is used on a more physical basis to provide healing. The practise is derived from Native American Hopi Indians who held healing ceremonies and initiation rituals which we can see in ancient wall paintings.
Ingredients
The candles are made using natural cotton soaked in beeswax, honey, sage and organically grown flax. Other ingredients can also be added for further benefit including camomile, St JohnsWort and lavendar.
Method
The client is asked to lie on one side and after checking the ear condition the candle is lit and gently inserted into the outer ear. It works on a chimney principle, using suction to draw impurities to the surface. They are very good for equalising pressure in the ears and head. The process does not hurt, infact it is immensly relaxing. Close your eyes and listen to the gentle crackle of the flame. Once the candle has burnt down sufficiently the client is asked to turn over. A second candle is used for the other ear. After the candles have been used, a beautiful face massage is administered to the head, ears and face to 'kick start' the lymphatic drainage system and give the receiver a wonderful relaxing experience.
Use
Hopi ear candles can be used simply as an excellent way to relax and unwind but it is also benefical to certain conditions including:
- Pressure regulations (from colds, flu, flights, migrane)
- Excessive wax in the ears
- Headaches and pains
-Stimulation of energy flow.
This therapy usually lasts 30-40 mins and costs £25 per session.
